After I installed Dark Reign and launched it, everything worked and I got into the game. The problem was that when in an actual game, gamplay was very choppy. The title screen and menus however, did not experience this issue. After I noticed this, I exited the game to try and find a solution, only to find that I could not get the game to start up again. I kept getting a "no cd found" message. The only way I could get past this was to select "no", but then the game would not let me play anything except for multiplayer (which I'm assuming doesn't work anyway).

I find it hard to believe that this game is that broken. I know that there is a 1.7 patch but apparently that doesn't allow music to play and people reported in the thread that it has a virus? Also there was no mention if it affected choppy gameplay or launching the game at all.

Exact same problem here - game launched fine a few times but now keeps asking for a CD. Will let you know if I figured out a solution...

Edit: reinstalling the game seemed to fix it... seems I have to reinstall each time I want to play

Well I decided to just get a regular copy of Dark Reign and install that and it actually works fine (on XP). Ran installer in win95 compat mode, installed 1.2 patch, put w95inf32.dll in the install dir, and ran the game in win95 compat mode. Very pathetic that I had to do this. GOG should just give out cd images of the original games instead of messing them up.

Having the same problem here. Unable to play because of the CD error message.

Will try reinstalling.

I'm attempting to get DarkReign up and running in WineSkin on OSX, so I originally thought it was an issue with Wine. Evidently not!
