I don't like any ambient music at all in first person RPGs, so I have the music slider turned all the way down. I still want to hear music when I turn on the radio. I still want to hear environmental music coming from a physical radio or speaker in the game world, in bars, and the random people playing music the streets.
This game is an inconsistent mess with how it ties some environmental sounds to the music slider. The people playing musical instruments on streets are tied to the music slider, while radios and speakers are not. It's annoying to see someone on the street playing a guitar, but you can't hear them.
Some bars play music through speakers, others are dead silent because the music in them is tied to the music slider. For the longest time I didn't know that the juke boxes in bars actually worked. I didn't discover this until Phantom Liberty where the Alex walks over to the one in her bar, pressed a button and started dancing to nothing.
