I reinstalled Cyberpunk with the launch of Phantom Liberty. When I start the game I get these freezes, the screen just freezes for a few seconds but the sound continues. It happened several times now in the prologue.
The weird thing is, I played Cyberpunk 2 or so months ago and finished the game without any of those freezes. I can't figure out what it is, cause I run the game without any mods and it worked fine two months ago, the settings are the same, and even lowering the few things I had on ultra don't fix it. Running the FPS counter doesn't show a dip in FPS either when it happens, it just freezes.

My specs are:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.9 GB usable)
Samsung SSD 970 evo 1tb
Nvidia Gefore RTX 3070

Running the game mostly on high settings with raytracing on.

Does anyone know what is going on. It makes the game rather unplayable as I'm not gonna deal with freezes on a regular base. I asked on the steam forums as well, another person replied having the same issues while also running a RTX 3070 . Could it be a driver issue? I have the latest driver installed. Or did they change something in Cyberpunk and now my settings are to high for my card?

Have you been monitoring your temps ? maybe something is overheating and throttling.

Also do you have anything running in the background that might be interfering with the game ( anti virus etc. ) ?

My specs are considerably lower than yours and I can run the game at Ultra settings ( not using ray tracing or DLSS ) in 1080p without issue, so maybe try running without ray tracing and see if that helps.

Thanks for replying, I run the game in 1080 as well. When I have DLSS and Ray tracing on, the temp goes up to about 70 - 80 degrees Celsius, with less action about 65.
Without DLSS and Ray tracing it stays between 60 and 70 Degrees C.

Both have the freezing of the screen sadly.

I don't really have anything else running in the background that I haven't before. Closed my browser just to test, but same result.
Are these GPU temps because it could be your CPU.

When I upgraded my GPU my CPU temps went through the roof hitting 90c + ( presumably due to having a higher workload trying to keep up with a better graphics card) and this caused all sorts of issues for me until I noticed what was going on, it was easily remedied by replacing the stock cooler.

Are you getting issues in any other games or apps ?

You could maybe try running some benchmarks to stress test your system to see if you can get it to freeze when running something other than Cyberpunk.

I suppose the other thing to consider is whether you have any mods installed for CP2077 (either now or previously).

E2a :

If you have Phantom Liberty installed is it possible to test against the base game to see if the DLC has introduced an issue.

Don't have these problems in other games no. Armored core 6 runs fine, doesn't make the fans spin louder either. Baldur's gate 3, runs like a charm.

I don't have any mods installed, always played it vanilla so that's not either.

Guess I will have to wait and see if a future patch or driver update fixes it.

Okay tried to uninstall Phantom and just play the base game. The base game doesn't seem to have these weird freezes.

I'm running an RTX 2070 Super, and I noticed something similar. For me, though, it's almost always only happening when I'm driving, returning a car to El Capitan. Had one instance where it happened in combat, but all the others were only when driving.

To me it happens at quiet scenes too, like when talking to Jackie after you freed the girl at the apartment. When I walk up to the elevator when he dropped me off in the intro. Things like that. FPS counter doesn't show a drop in FPS either.
And I don't get it, cause when I uninstall Phantom, it runs fine. Like, what is Phantom adding that could cause this?
