Hi,

The Curious Expedition is giving the Galaxy "Instalation Failed: Configuration Error" issue when I either try to install it or update it. It seems it tries to update the game when there is nothing to update. Furthermore, if I start the game directly from either its executable or shortcut, it does so without any problems but GoG Galaxy just keeps trying to update it for some reason and gives the above error in a non-stop loop.

Also, if I uninstall the game, the game folder and all its files remain there.

I think this started with the latest patch.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

AV/Security software interfering or possibly a Galaxy bug.
Hi Gydion,

Thank you for your reply.

However, and it was weird, I just did a "Verify/Repair" on the game and it worked. It's all fine now.

What it was, I don't know, but doing a verify/repair of the game works.

Thanks again.

I used to have the similar "Installation Failed: Disk Access Problem" error a last year, but it started working again after a patch in around August 2016.
I've since changed PC's, but did move my hard drive from the old one and just had GOG galaxy verify the installs and everything ran without problems for 8 months.
Then the old hard drive failed, and after replacing it and reinstalling GOG Galaxy to the same location (D:\GOG Galaxy) I now get the Installation failed: Configuration Error" on every install again.
I've tried the Verify/Repair trick some have suggested in other threads, as well as running the client as an administrator, but that didn't help.
Did end up finding a solution in GOG's Mantis Bug reporting system that may help others affected by this issue down the line though, and just wanted to post it here since it's not listed in any of the forum threads I've found:
- Exit GOG Galaxy.
- Go to C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Storage and delete the file galaxy.db
- Restart GOG Galaxy.
It'll repair its database and after that seems to be able to install games again.

for me it is: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\

I also couldn't find it at first. Try this

- Win key + R
- Type: %programdata%

Should pop up then

This was my exact situation - failed HDD, the replacement was getting configuration failed errors. Your fix took care of it. Thank you very much for sharing!

Hi, Im on Mac and I found only "Galaxy 2.0 - db"
I've deleted it after exiting GOG galaxy, restarted, yet I still get E4 installation Failed.

I checked the Privacy settings, everything I found there from GOG is allowed. Nothing helps
Any ideas?
