Hey, I'm curious to know why GOG Galaxy chooses to run Crysis in DX10 as default, but runs Wars and Warhead in DX9 unless the user specifies otherwise? Is there any compelling reason that choice was made?

BTW, this has been a great weekend... I missed Crysis back in the day due to what I perceived as overly invasive DRM, so it has been great to finally give these games a try. Thanks GOG.

SilvaHaloOne:
IIRC Crysis only runs in DX10 if the user sets all the graphics settings to 'Very High'. Otherwise the game'll run in DX9.

That's correct SesperU.
There used to be lots of config files that would enable the DX10 effect on high settings so people with DX9 cards could get them too.

Edit: for example this one: http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html

Yeah I have same problem. Changing settings to very high, as somebody noted here, doesn't seem to help. When I launch crysis 1 using gog galaxy, I get dx10 version of game, on high settings I get around 60-70 fps in 1920x1080 res. In crysis warhead I get by default with same settings fps stuttering in around 30-60 fps, which is annoying, because its default started in dx9 version in game. One solution is starting game in bin64 folder in crysis warhead folder and launch crysis64.exe there you will get dx10 version of game. Its little bit pity, but CD project wishes people will be using galaxy, but its little bit buggy, at least if there will be option to change executable path of games for launch... Fix it please.
