Polderong: This almost worked for me, so I am sharing what did work.
In order for Crysis to work on my new Desktop computer with a 13gen Intel core i5 and RTX 3060 (12 GB VRAM) I need to run "~\Games\Crysis\CrysisLauncher.exe -dx9" so to make it for GOG Dashboard to work follow same steps, use this folder without the -dx9 instead and in the Arguments box add the -dx9.

Hope this helps anyone still having an issue.

adventnova: Just found a simple work around to being able to launch Crysis through GOG 2.0+ without having to endure the Black Screen Startup issue and crash. Tested this about 5 or 6 times so far. So its an issue with the GOG platform communicating with the CrysisLauncher.exe. You can use the CrysisLauncher exe directly in the installation folder without issue, but not through GOG.

After Installing the game.

- Go to Crysis on your GOG Dashboard.
- Click on the Settings Toggle Button next tot he Play button.
- Click Manage Installation
- Scroll all the way to the bottom
- Click the blue "Add another executable / arguments"
- Search for your Crysis installation folder "~\Games\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe"
- Click Open.
- Now select the "Default Executable" bubble.
- Click OK.

Launch Crysis without error using the GOG 2.0+ Platform.

GunthySalvus: No need for complicated steps and tweaks.

It happened the same to me and i figured it out.

JUST GO TO THE CRYSIS FOLDER AND OPEN THE BIN32 FOLDER.
USE DE CRYSIS.EXE THAT'S IN THAT FOLDER, OPEN AS ADMIN.

DONE.

DON'T FORGET TO TELL GOG TO FIX THE DAMN EXES .
This resolved for me not only the launching problem, but also the game randomly crashing during playthrough.

I have also installed community made c-1 launcher, which resolved the launching problem for me on 64-bit exe files, but the game was constantly crashing randomly while running under the 64-bit exe. While 32-bit exe can launch and at least with c1-launcher is crash free so far. I didn't try playing the game under the 32-bit exe vanilla one though.

I have a 7800X3D and 4090, nothing here seems to work getting this game running. Crashes at start, any suggestions?

Try using c1-launcher if you haven't already: https://github.com/ccomrade/c1-launcher/releases

I needed the launcher to start the game as well. None of the previous posts workarounds worked for me (7600X3D RTX 4060)

Then again, not even 1920x1080? 2560x1080? oof.

Playing it 10 minutes just showed me how badly this game aged. Play Doom, Quake or any other game with a descent port instead.

Therer is a TIIIIINY scrollbar on the side where you can scroll down for more and higher resolutions. It was considered bad design in the first reviews of the game and still they never fixed it.
