I'm not sure if this is a stupid question to ask. I use the scptoolkit with a PS3 controller to play certain games. Is there a way to use it for the Crusader series?

AFAIK there isn't an easy way to use a modern controller but the Crusader games do support joysticks so theoretically you can bind the joy axis and bind the keyboard keys to joystick buttons.

I sadly don't own a joystick.

Your gamepad has thumbsticks (=small joysticks) right?

I would suggest installing Joy2Key.
It will let you map any keyboard inputs to the gamepad buttons and axis.
