I'm on the fourth level of no remorse on loose cannon and the game is just throwing thermatrons at me. I can't kill them in a stand up fight with the shotgun or the assault rifle so I have to use cunning and detpacks or spider mines to kill them. The problem is, I'm at least halfway through the level and down to just two spider mines for killing those walkers. Should I restart and buy all the explosives I can carry or the laser pistol Weasel sells at the start of the Mission? A blurb in the manual says that lasers are good at killing robots.

I managed to crush one of the thermatrons using an elevator, I was really proud of myself for pulling that off.

Did you not pick up the grenade launcher (GL-303) in the first mission? In the beginning of the game, I always use that on the bots.

Also, I don't recommend buying any ammo or consumables from weasel as you can scavenge all you'll ever need, even on loose cannon difficulty. I don't recommend buying the laser pistol either as you find it in one of the missions (forget which one but I remember it's behind a hidden door opened buy shooting pulsating switches). Not to mention you can buy a laser rifle later on (and you should buy it) which is more powerful than the pistol. The laser rifle is IMHO, something you should keep the entire game once it become available.

Off question, your not still using the BA-40 or BA-41 are you? When the credits become available, definitely buy a RP-32 Pacifist. Not as good as the GL-303 to take on early bots but it will do the job as well as get you through a lot of the mid game too.

You can get a grenade launcher on the first level? I never knew that because that would be really helpful against all those robots. I mainly use the shotgun I found from the first level and the RP-22 around mission 3 and neither shoot quick enough to take out thermatrons.

Here's how to get to it. On the first level, keeping playing until your contact gives you the key card. Keep going until you get to the lift to level 2. Not far into level 2, you'll cross the walkways that hang over a huge pit of crap. Follow them into a room with 3 pipes with flames coming out of them and right after that room is a room where you have to activate an energy bridge (screenie 1 is the area I'm talking about). After you activate the bridge, a small floating platform with an enemy on it will come, quickly kill the guard and jump onto the platform (but destroy that fan FIRST). You need to do this part quick as sometimes that platform doesn't always come back (possible bug). Check the first screen shot, I recommend you stand in front of where I've marked to kill the guard, then step backwards onto the mark and jump when the platform stops. In the second screen shot you'll see a few barrels blocking the way but they can be shot off the platform safely though I have blown them up before so be careful there. Go into the room in the third screenshot and you'll find the grenade launcher in the furthermost crate. The other one has 2 clips for your grenade launcher and 3 for your shottie, yum!!

You can find the grenade launcher in a few other levels too but because I always pick it up here, I don't remember where they were. I know your already past this point but at least you'll know for next time. Still, I hope it helps regardless :)

Regarding the shottie, you are shooting it while crouching right? The shottie is an absolute pain to use while standing but I do recall talking down Thermatrons with it without too much hassle. I crouched and rolled from cover to fire then roll back when the Thermatron prepares to shoot.

Thanks for the tip! I never knew it was possible to get over there. I may have to load a old save, but this will really help me out against thermatrons.

I already know its best to fire the shotgun while crouched as you fire it consistently compared to if your standing and the RP-32 is a much better choice than the RP-22 when fighting tougher guards as you can take them out before they do too much damage against you .
