I just got Creatures Exodus from GoG. I have installed it on my Win XP system. I click on the launcher for Creatues and I get a black screen. If i hit escape the program ends. I get the same problems even if i edit the user.cfg to make Creatures 3 run in windowed mode.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks in Advance.
Have you tried running the program while in 16-bit color mode? I know docking station throws a big fit if you don't - not sure about c3 standalone, though.
You need to run C3 and DS in 16bits color mode. After that, you can switch it to fullscreen and it will be saved in settings. Next time you run the game, it will run fullscreen, so it won't stall if your desktop is 32bits color mode. If you want windowed mode, you have no solution but to set your color mode to 16 bits.
Having same issue here, running Windows XP. Desktop is set to use color quality "Medium [16 bit]", however everytime I start Creatures 3 it just displays a black screen. I've tried switching from full to windowed mode, same issue either way. I've also tried deleting the machine.cfg and user.cfg files and running the program again but no dice. Finally deleted my Creatures folder under My Documents but again, same problem. I have Albian Years and Exodus and can confirm that C1, C2 and Docking Station all work fine.

Any advise most appreciated.

*** UPDATE ***

OK, got a solution. The problem was multiple accounts. I ran Creatures 3 from the account that Exodus was installed on and C3 ran fine. I had to delete machine.cfg and user.cfg first mind. Then I switched back to the account that was having issues (my sons), deleted the Creatures 3 directory in his My Documents/Creatures folder and voila... Creatures 3 is now working! :D

To add my bit of knowledge, I found that the first time the game has to be run as Administrator, because the game seems to convert graphical files which will reside in C:\Program Files (are at least the game believes so, as I did not find any modifications there).
