Hooboy. Memories. I remember wanting this game so badly that I convinced my father to get us a new 500 MEGABYTE harddrive so I'd have the space to install it. I was totally taken in by the game, but to be honest, I never got that far. A lot of the logic behind creature development is obscured so that there's no way to tell if what you're doing is really doing any good. Add in enemy mobs that seem to routinely wipe my settlements and, well. Frustrating! Of course, I haven't played creatures in a good 12-15 years, so it may be better than I remember. But just prepare for some hair pulling :)
Enemy mobs? I only remember there being one grendel...
I don't remember any "mobs" either. Or settlements. ;)
Anyway, I introduced this game to several kids when I was younger. Some enjoyed it as much as me, and others didn't see the point in breeding Norns. I had always been interested in genetics though, so seeing "Digital DNA" was an instant win for me. I do agree with it being frustrating, and that's why I tend to suggest Creatures 2 or better yet, Creatures 3. The Norns are smarter and don't get absolutely entranced by the lift buttons. haha
