Hi everyone, i have the extra paid for breed packs such as the treehugger and toxic norns but was wondering if they work normally in the Creatures games released by GOG.com?

Can anyone confirm if they work or not and/or the special instructions to get them working?
Very lucky! Those breed packs are impossible to buy anymore, which makes obtaining them very difficult. They do work with the GOG.com version of Creatures Exodus. The only thing you may need in order to install them properly is the Creatures Remastered Patch. Hopefully this helps! Good luck!

Thank you so much, i know what you mean when you say it is impossible to buy anymore. I forgot where i saved them so i was searching the internet to buy them again and found them no where.. Luckily i found them!

I also have another question.

I know that GOG obviously had to do some work to get the games to work on newer systems, so what i was wondering is

1.is there now reduced functionality or changes to the game after being remastered? or are they the same old games that were just updated to work on new systems?

2. they list being able to run on windows 7. Is this completely true? or are there still issues?

In regards to your questions:

1.) I haven't noticed any changes from the old games and the versions available from GOG. I was able to run C1 and C3/DS from my original discs shortly before purchasing these versions, and I haven't seen anything missing or otherwise altered. So long as you have the Creatures Remastered Patch, linked above, you should be all set!

2.) I'm running The Albian Years and Exodus on Windows 7, and haven't noticed any issues. I have had some problems with saving a few worlds, but I'm positive that it has to do with some of the agents and add-ons I have installed. I also played these versions on an older computer, which was Windows Vista, and I can attest to their stability in that environment, too. Just keep in mind that Creatures games were originally released with a few minor bugs, which still exist to some degree. Flying lemons, anyone? Ha ha!

COOL! thank you so much for confirming all this. Im hunting down all the official items and downloads from the creatures site when it was running, then i will make my purchase.

I know way back when, Gameware or Cyberlife released updates for the games. Are they still required? or are these all up to date?
You're very welcome! If you're having any trouble getting any of the official downloads, try visiting:

http://gamewaredevelopment.com/downloads/

It looks absolutely hideous, but they've switched from the .co.uk domain and also have a lot of broken links on the current site. I'm sure any questions can be answered if you're not sure what certain downloads are! I'm actually not entirely sure about all of them, though it should be pretty easy to find the main ones you're looking for.

The GOG.com versions are all completely up-to-date in terms of updates. No need to download those: Hurray!

One entirely random note about Creatures 1: The GOG.com version is missing the Emergency Kit, so far as I've heard. There are ways to work around creating new worlds and adding new Norns to the world, though, so it's not really much of a loss. Just thought I would mention it, as it's somewhat related to this line of questions.

Hopefully this rambling helps you out a bit! Any other questions you might have are most welcome, though!
Ok thanks!

i can't believe how much i have forgotten about this game in the last ~6 years or more.

But one more question. In Creautres 2 there was the issue with the OHSS. Am i correct in saying that Cyberlife issued an updated genome in one of the Life Kits? and if so has it been applied to the GOG.com version.

Reason i ask is bc i dont think i ever downloaded the canny or nova subterra genomes, so bc of that im assumin i had the updated genome from Cyberlife added.......OR i just never notice my norns as having OHSS.. i only noticed that they were always tired and never wanted to sleep and eating.

EDIT: now that i think of it, i think the update was the Eggs.exe in the download section but i have nothing confirming it, would you happen to know?

I'm not 100% sure about the OHSS fix for Creatures 2. I never heard if it was any better than the Canny or Nova Subterra genomes. I actually use the Hatchery Expansion (last download at the bottom of the page). This includes all C1 and C2 breeds based on the Akamai Canny genome. Each breed also has a unique characteristic. I don't play Creatures 2 that much, though, so this might not be exactly what you're looking for. If not, have a look Here for the standard Akamai Canny and Canny Norns for C2. This page also has a few updates for the Grendels and Ettins that I recommend. I can also point you in the direction of Akamai Canny Ettins, if you're interested.

Maybe someone who plays the GOG.com version of C2 knows more information about the update to the OHSS symptoms?
