I am getting a line of text and numbers top left of screen and also a block of text with numbers in seconds.
Also the player character has white lines around him.

I get the same. Also on a mac. I started the game for the first time. At the top there are four variables "dip" "prim", "vert" also a "tex" with a mb amount. On the right there are durations for spawning and information about savegames. Seems to be a dev- or a debug mode. The games works fine but the writing kills the emersion.

That's it, and yes it does spoil the game.

I have sent a report to support and I used your description text above which describes the problem.

You need to downgrade to the Version 1.3.003 , then you can play without the Debug mode. This bug is really annoying.

Thanks for the tip. But how do I downgrade a game from GOG?

You can do that in the settings in the GOG Galaxy Client. By chosing an older version :-)
