I made it to the top of some pyramid in the top-right (I think) of level 10, got killed by one of those jumping monsters, and saw the Episode Ending screen. Is that supposed to happen?

Yes, it's basically a glitch. You're supposed to jump to the hole in the ceiling to finish this level, but because you were killed, your ghost goes up and thus triggers the ending.
