Hey folks,

I was lucky to get Corridor 7 on a discount. I've gotten to know the demo / floppy version (and my memories from ~25 years ago aren't pristine, sorry) and I think that the GOG "CD" version has a few changes.

Did GOG disable the "phantom Solracs" (the jumpscare Skull thingy) or did they just reduce its chance of appearance in the early levels to keep the later levels more difficult? I've never seen it in the GOG version, back in the day it scared me regularly. I remember that the Solrac animation had a nasty knack for appearing behind opening doors.

Does the [backspace] + [R] still trigger the phantom Solrac?

Now the tough questions: Is there (still) a server for network play or is this a LAN-only feature? And what's the game mode then (deathmatch or co-op)?

Thank you in advance and good hunting!

The GOG CD version is based on the CD version of the game that was released in 1994 a year or so after the floppy release but like you my memory is fuzzy too so I will try my best to answer your questions as I never owned the floppy or even played the demo of C7 so my experiences with the game from that version.

but then main differences from the original floppy release are:

1. a new 4 track cd soundtrack which is, ok but its only 4 tracks and they repeat I think the midi ost is better.
2. 1 new weapon a "shotgun" which is pretty lethal at close range.
3. 10 new levels after you defeat solrac, you can either shoot the portal and get the floppy ending or go own through and visit the aliens home turf.
4. new bonus levels
5. new mp levels

1. Phantom Solracs still occur as they are supposed to happen. the CD ver changed the timing for those or made them RNG vs the diskette version, they have happened to me, it just ramps up as you progress through the levels which was originally intended iirc [ GOG never will patch something out, if its not happening as much for you then its either a rng issue or a DOSBOX timing issue which can still happen it maybe even worse if you adjusted your cycles count in the conf file and dosbox still has alot of issues]

2. AFIK Yes it does.

3. yeah network play is still doable and you can setup your own server the info is included in the quick start guide but as far as I knew there was never any official internet server as 1994 the internet was still in its fancy well before public servers were ever a thing but I suppose one could be set up I think, i did it with my cd release a couple of years back with some peeps I know. but I do not remember if it was coop or deathmatch so I am going to say its probably deathmatch.

Fans of C7 are few and far between it seems as CV11's negative review of the game seems to have tainted public perception of the title....

I am considering opening up a C7 fan discord, but I don't know.
