During game launch I get this message: "We could not restore your progress on locked achievements. All previously unlocked achievements, rewards and saved game progress are unaffected by this. If you proceed now, your progress on locked achievements will be reset."

And there is now an advertisement for Alan Wake 2 in the menus!
I have this error to but If i remember correctly last time I installed this on my pc (personal pc) I had this error to I could not figure out to fix. in end I uninstalled the game hoping a patch would fix but apparently that error was not fixed. When I installed installed this on my uncles pc this error did not happen, when Gog Galaxy on his pc the error was happen on his pc (initial it was never installed). from the point on it had the error

I get this message too.

Looks to be a GOG related issue. I wonder if it's because I played the non-patched version before this version.
I get the error if I launch the game directly, but not if I launch it via GOG Galaxy. Another interesting observation is that I added the GOG version to Steam as a non-Steam game so I could stream it to another room in my house, and after I was done, Steam said that I had been playing the Steam version of the game, which I don't even have installed. I'm wondering if that's all related.
I have the same error. Also already completely reinstalled. Unfortunately without success.

I have exactly the same problem and have contacted GOG about this. As soon as I get a response I will keep you updated on this forum.

[Update]

This was the response I got from GOG support:

----------------------------------------------------------------
Hello

It might be worth you reached out directly to the developers of the game in order to clarify this further:
support@remedygames.com
and
https://www.remedygames.com/support

This could be simply a warning related to the newest update for the game but might not affect your playthrough.

That said, do i understand correctly that you are indeed experiencing some difficulties with your achievements? Would be happy to help with this if so.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

[Update 2]

Good thinking, yes indeed the achievements functionality should be only available via GOG GALAXY but the offline installation should not be preventing you from enjoying the game.

Any news from the developers of the game?

I'm getting the same error about achievement progress launching the game downloaded from the offline installer. I don't run GOG Galaxy and it's installed via Lutris and Wine on Kubuntu 24.04.

It stops the game starting until I click through the messagebox.

Is there a fix, or do I have to roll back to the previous version?

Thanks :)

no fix I am aware of this was bug when I initinal installed the game few years ago and it still bug that happens, with current install, though honestly it was never a bug that happen till "AFTER" GoG Galaxy was installed after it was installed the bug started and from that point even if you uninstalled GoG Galaxy it remained happening. (current galaxy is installed as i need to keep track of all my games across all the launchers as the only reason I use GoG galaxy at this point)

I updated to the latest GOG patch, 1.31 hotfix gog. although I'm not sure what was changed in it and I'm not sure if it's the 1.33 version that's on other storefronts. It's not clear.

What is clear though is it didn't fix the message on startup with the offline installer, no galaxy, linux lutris install :(

I'm pleased to report the mods 'loose file loader' and the 'Windows Game Patches' ASI patches to skip intro and use the debug free camera still work though, :)
