I started playing this wonderful game and after a first unfortunate demise of a heroine, she reappeared in the navigation point. As this is open game that uses profile system, it is perfectly understandable from the gameplay perspective, but I was wondering if this is mechanism somehow explained in the rich game lore?

If there is ingame explanation, please do not spoil it by providing it here. Thank you.
I am not positive it is ever explained, but I am not very far into the game. I rode my emotions and got mad at Remedy for charging more for the ultimate edition when it first launched for certain gamefronts, so I never finished it.

I think I've kind of hurt myself by not enjoying this piece of art. Maybe I'll reinstall it soon and find out for myself...

I played the whole game and no explaination was ever given on this subject. (Or I didn't understand a thing about the story)

However, I think you could think of it as a side-effect produced by the distortion of reality. Like multiple dimensions, shattered and mixed togheter. It could be as if multiple versions of the heroine are created by the shattered reality as is your reflection in the shards of a shattered mirror.

Once a reflection dies, another one step up.

But none of the above is canon. Is just my point of view.

Cheers

I was very annoyed at the fact that this is not explained in-game. Very unlike Remedy, if you ask me.
But if you can get over that, it remains a very good game with a good story (and also an important piece of the lore of another Remedy game :) )
Thank you for answers. I finished it, but it felt quite strange that there was no explanation (even farfetched) as developers clearly done their best in keeping players suspension of disbelief for all other elements of the plot , AWE and Objects of Power. I had a great time with Control and I was entertained reading all the files and hearing the recordings. It just does not fell right that Remedy just allowed player character respawn at control point, without even a hint on game world explanation of this mechanics ,to somehow break the immersion.
