Say, guys, I have just finished mission 2 'Das Boot: Silent Killers' and I started to wonder - It took me about 2 hours 25 minutes to beat this one (It's probably the longest mission in the game - even longer than Colditz Castle) and I got only one star for time.
What was your fastest time in beating this mission?

Also, if you remember the ranks in this game, what was the highest rank you were ever promoted ingame?

Mine was Brigadier, and from what I remember 'Guns of Savo Island' and 'Saving Private Smith' are by far the hardest to get a promotion ('Bridge over the River Kwai' requires everything on 5 stars, but it's not that hard to achieve)

And in pattern I have beaten this game previously: Major, Colonel and Brigadier.
Anyone got higher than me?

And also to game mechanics: Do you also have occasionally a bug in 'Das Boot' that doesn't allow you to blow up all the charges unless you do it in the right pattern (Which is Torpedo, Fuel Depots and then AA guns)?

Savo is a trip. It's actually not that hard to get big time promotion provided you resist the urge to blow shit up. :D The problem is the baddies are practically begging you to, leaving the guns relatively undefended and at the same time bunching up on bridges and such just BEGGING for grenade volleys. If however you bide your time and go VERY VERY VERY slowly, and DON'T FORGET THAT STUPID STATUE, you can get through almost totally unnoticed minus your fireworks at the very end of course. A tip: they give you that castaway for a reason...USE HIM! Your timing has to be good because his distractions don't last long but if you are quick enough you can get almost anywhere on the island unseen using him and his stupid horn. It actually took me longer to figure out how to use the elephant on Kwai than it did to master Savo.

You should know as well I've had this game going on seven years and have played all of these missions dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of times.
