When running Behind Enemy Lines, the in-game cursor moves very sluggishly and leaves a "tail" of cursors in its path. The game boots fine, but as soon as I reach the menu I start having this problem. During gameplay it's even more severe. If I don't move, everything runs fine. But any time I move the cursor during a mission, the game freezes until the cursor stops. It's as if moving the cursor is causing the game to lag, which is strange. It's not at all playable like this. Any advice?
I should also note that I don't have this problem when running Beyond the Call of Duty. That one plays flawlessly.
Well, that's odd. It works fine now. Strange.
Thanks anyway. Nothing to see here.

I have this mouse lag issue too, if I move the mouse the game stops then goes on when I stop moving the mouse.

I've heard of remotely similar issues when running two ATI cards in SLI. If by any chance you have two video cards, try turning one off. Otherwise, try standard compatibility procedures (i.e. XP or 98 compatibility, maybe something else...)

nothing helps but one solution: using an old, low dpi mouse :D When I use my laser mouse with 3600 DPI, the game stops when I move it, I suppose its engine is not capable of handling it. I used my old 2$ mouse, and it works fine now. The other commandos games, incl. the first expansion work fine =)
AHH When the mouse moves the game stops, can anyone help?

You can try the solution posted in another GOG thread:

https://www.gog.com/forum/commandos_series/mouse_causing_frame_freezes_and_unusual_fps_spike_at_the_same_time

I will quote the entire solution post here just in case (it was originally posted by Lazlow, so thank him! the quote attribution below is wrong because it came from another thread):

JoelGriffis: Hello fellow Commandos

I had a bit of a problem, which I resolved myself after not being able to find the information online (exactly). So I am writing this in case anyone else experiences a similar problem and is a little stumped.

My issue was in Commandos Beyond the Call of Duty. Description as follows:

1. the game would play at 20fps locked (which is normal).
2. moving the mouse caused the FPS to rise as high as my maximum refresh (144hz in my case) as long as I kept the mouse moving.
3. While the mouse is moving continuously and the FPS caps at max, all scenes and effects in the game freeze to a single frame until I stop moving the mouse, then continues as normal.

### This gives the impression that there is stutter (very bad stutter) if you move the mouse in bursts.

The FAQ did say to play around with V-Sync, but I found the issue in my case was specifically to do with G-SYNC.

Having turned this OFF in the nVidia control panel (specific to BCD), I found that the issue completely alleviated itself.

Under "Monitor technology" I changed it to "Fixed Refresh", this causes the _Preferred refresh rate_ to automatically change to "Application-controlled", leave this as it is. If you set this back to another setting, it'll change your Monitor Technology back again too.

For good measure i have threaded optimization turned off as well regardless.

Now I can leave it at 144hz on the desktop and it'll adjust itself as needed in the game. This completely alleviated the issue for me.

Hopefully this helps even 1 soul out there.

I am unsure if it is worth seeing about GSYNC compatibility being mentioned in the FAQ, or if anyone else would like to try and confirm this (as I might be an exception).

For reference, my configuration is: i7-6700K, 980Ti, 32GB RAM on an XB270HU monitor.

All the best to everyone.

Regards,

Lazbot
So the solution was: Go to NVIDIA control panel, add the Commandos EXE file to the list of custom per-application rules, and in that application disable the options he mentioned above. This means G-Sync/Vsync is only disabled in Commandos but not in other games or the desktop!

^ He's right, thanks!

It was due to high polling/refresh rate.
As soon as I lowered the polling rate from 1000 to 125, game ran normally.

Check the attached screenshot for details.
