I've got to say that was rude and unnecessary. Vast majority of the game dialogues were translated by a native speaker. Most of our voice over actors are native speakers too and they were instructed they can change their parts a bit if they catch any mistakes or if that would help them build their character better. A small part of the scripts was indeed translated inside our studio by Polish members of our team (mostly UI texts), but even if those lines were not authentic enough, I don't think they deserve such opinion.

I'd like to continue this discussion in good faith. We intend to improve the game in all aspects, but Coffee Noir is extremely text-heavy for an indie game, so it'd be great if you (on anyone else reading this thread) could point out some examples - that'd help us a lot. Thanks!

The original comment is overly-emotional and definitely rude. That said, the translation sometimes leaves something to be desired. I overlooked most of the flaws in the demo, as they were minor ones, but in the full-game, I am immediately confronted wtih "homely" instead of "homey". Homely means someone is ugly. Homey means a place is comfortable, like home. It doesn't even look like it was thrown into DeepL. It just looks like someone, whose English is not as good as they think, wrote the text.

I do not think that much of the game's English is bad. Most of it is excellent. There are sticking points that need to be ironed out, however.

I am a Technical Writer and a native English speaker with 8 years of university training. If you would like, I would be willing to work on the text to improve ONLY portions that are grammatically incorrect or are using the wrong word. I would not change the style at all. You would send things to me, I would look over them and suggest changes, then send it back to you. It is a lot to do on the side, and I've never made this offer before. I usually feel that people should pay for translations.

Consider the offer and let me know.

Game developers struggle enough with a toxic industry from the top and toxic gamers complete the circle. Please don't ever let toxic gamers get under your skin or penetrate your mind or emotions. They're not worth it. People can take the time necessary to articulate their requests/opinions or they can get ignored or overlooked like any other half-baked question online. Angry gamers don't deserve and are not entitled to anything.
