I am very interested to buy close combat 2 and 3 - however, I am concerned with some of the recent reviews that talk about CTD or inability to save campaigns.

Can anybody confirm CC2, and CC3 are working ok without issue on win 10? Perhaps the reviewer comments are special cases.

I have plenty of games from GOG without issue - but I am left unsure about CC's ability to run without CTD, and game saves.
It's a risk with these games, some people seem to have more success than others. Also, some workarounds work for some and not for others. Plus future Win 10 updates may fix or break the behaviour as well.

For myself, I have both CC2 and CC3 retail disc versions and they are both working fine on Win 10 at the moment.

This post is interesting : https://www.gog.com/forum/close_combat_series/cc2_crash_to_desktop/post15 and demonstrates that even if the game seems to be working fine, there is always a risk that it might fail at any point.
The worst thing that can happen is having to use Dxwnd to run the games. It takes no more than 5 minutes to have it set up and the people on the forum will likely help if you run into trouble.

The reviews are somewhat exaggerated. Myself, I've completed unabridged CC2 in its entirety on a Windwos 10 x64 installation.

Thanks ikrananka, and vear. I think i'll take a chance on them - they are on sale now, and as tactical war games they seem highly regarded. If it buggers up I'll try Dxwnd as vear suggests.
Regards,

Update; No problems with saves or CTD with CC-2 on win-10 64bit OS. Enjoying it along with the combat mission series games from GOG as well.
