Hello,
I'm a total noob, when it comes to visual novels, thb, one of these two titles will be my first try on the genre.
Mainly because these are the first that I saw, finally NOT taking place in a japanese high shool - a setting I'm not really interested in - and i realised, that it might be interesting.
I'm not planning to kamikaze-purchase though, I'm only buying one at a time.
Which one should it be, Solstice, or Cinders?
Which one is better?

I'd say Cinders is the better entry point, as it's more lighthearted and focused on having fun with the choices. Solstice is more complex and story-centric, so a better fit for someone who already knows they like the genre.

Thanks for the recommendation!
(In the end I purchased both, loved the artwork so much ;) )
