just got the game, and had an issue where the cursor wouldn't show up, fixed that by turning on xp compat mode, but whenever i go to the options screen i can't click on anything, i can't even exit it and i have to alt tab out to force close the game, would like a solution, i am running the game in windows 8.1

I run it with that and it seems to fix the menu issues I had. I'm not sure if it's required in Windows 7 but it will most likely help with Windows 8: disable desktop composition, visual themes and high DPI display.
