Hi everyone hope things are well for all of you!
I basically know nothing about chess and chess strategy but I've had an interest in learning. For those of you who've played the game, do you think this would be able to serve as a training tool?
Thanks for your time!
Yes. It includes a full-fledged tutorial mode which starts with such basics as what the board looks like and what the pieces do, and ends with advanced play techniques.
It's basically the best interactive Chess learning software out there.
Cool thanks alot stonebro!
Looks like I got lucky too cause gog's doing a special on chess games.
Deep Blue here I come!
There is a "classroom" button on the main menu. Everything about chess is taught here. Even when you know absolutely nothing about chess. I highly recommend this as a chess teacher. Nice and interactive!! Each tab is broken down from beginners to advanced so if you are seasoned, I'm sure you will further your knowledge even more with this. Good Luck!!

The tutorials on Chessmaster are excellent.
They cover board setup, moving the pieces and other simple stuff.
They also go through simple tactics such as skewers, forks and pins.
Moving on they provide an opening book, and information about endgames.
I learned so much from Chessmaster 9000 :)
I don't have anything else to compare it to, but undoubtedly, I learned a lot from this. There's even a tutorial on various "two kings and a pawn" scenarios. They keep giving you two choices, and if you go against your gut, you'll be right 85% of the time.

I'd have to know more about chess to tell you what's missing, if anything. I had this years ago when it was new. Then it wouldn't run on my next computer. Then I forgot that I even had it... and then I got it on sale at gog.com. It's a stunningly good use of 5 or 6 bucks, to be sure.
