I try to get Chessmaster 9000 running under Linux (as I have successfully with most of the other GOG games). However, the installation of Chessmaster just has a Windows link (.lnk) file. As it works to start Chessmaster with this link, it has several problems that I hope to get resolved by starting it directly (as with some other GOG games). I can start "Chessmaster.exe" but I would like to start it with the included "gogwrap.exe". So can anybody (of you windows users) tell me the command line of the "Chessmaster 9000.lnk" shortcut?

I guess it's something like "gogwrap.exe blablabla" .... ?

I'm running Vista, and not at all a Linux guru, but is this what you're looking for?

This is my start file,
C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Chessmaster 9000\\

This is the exact file that starts the game.

C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Chessmaster 9000\gogwrap.exe" GOGCHESSMASTER9K
. Hope this helps,

rabblevox: C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Chessmaster 9000\gogwrap.exe" GOGCHESSMASTER9K

Thank you - that worked! (I wonder if this gogwrap.exe is always the same and has fixed settings for all its games ...?)

I *believe* that gogwraps are constructed individually for each game. I use Vista, and the only conflicts I've had involved my AV and malware programs. (easily solved by temporarily turning them off). Hopefully someone that understands Linux better than I will be able to answer more fully.

If you search the forum for "gogwrap" you'll get a number of hits, most of which won't be helpful, but you won't know until you try!
Okay, it seems that those parameter strings "GOGCHESSMASTER9k" are the same as the registry keys under HKLM/Software/GOG.com/. Good to know ...
