Does this game have descriptive notation available as an option? I only understand descriptive so I don't want to buy it if algebraic is the only option.

Actually, no it doesn't.

While under "Preferences/Notation" you can select "descriptive" rather than "algebraic", this only applies to the "chess mentor". Board descriptions and layouts will always be algebraic, as they should be.

Honestly, if you want to play (or learn) chess, then you MUST be willing to learn algebraic notation. Yes, there's a bit of a learning curve if you're not familiar with it, but...hello? chess is not a game for dummies.

I wanted to know if it has descriptive in your game with the computer. My Chessmaster 8000 had this so it is important for me. It seems like if it's in chess mentor I don't see why it is not in the game playing part.
