Has anyone had surround sound working for this game?

I have an X-Fi Fatality with the latest drivers, and Logitech Z-5500D 5.1 speakers with optical and 6 channel connected.

I'm only getting stereo sound from the game.

I've tried disabling EAX, playing around with Alchemy settings and the game's config file, all to no avail.

I'm using Windows 7 x64.

It would be great if I can get surround going as the audio in this game is pretty good.

Thanks.

You need to use Alchemy I think, also you need to use analog instead of optical.

Who marked this solved?

It doesn't solve or answer my question.

And as I stated, I'm already using Alchemy, and I have analogue and optical.
8 years later.. Did anyone solve this?

I have the same problem (no surround). I'm also on Windows 7, 64-bit, and I also use analogue out for my 7.1 setup. I tried Achemy, which didn't work. Apparently, one also have to set "-console" as a command line parameter for the game. Then for some reason EAX gets enabled (with a yes/no option). But still only stereo.

I also tried DSOAL (changed settings to reflect my setup ofc), but that didn't work either.
I haven't tried this myself but maybe Indirect Sound will work.

Nice find, thanks. First test didn't work though. EAX option got disabled again. Might be some ini tweaks is needed, I have to take a closer look at that later.

Have you tried editing dsound.ini and setting
eax1 = true
eax2 = true

also remember to put the dsound.dll and dsound.ini into the same folder as the game's .exe
