JustinJTime: I just got this today and it is great that someone made a source port of this! However I am very confused is to how to install any of this. Can you detail a step by step process as to how to do this on Windows? Thanks! :)
Thanks for your interest in the source port and apologies for the (very) late response.
To run the source port on Windows, you download the zip file and extract the files to a location of your preference on your hard disk. Then you run the CatacombGL executable. When started, a selection screen with an overview of all the supported games is shown. In case the Catacombs Pack was installed via the GOG installer, the game data will be auto-detected. Otherwise, it is possible to manually browse to the folder which contains either the Catacombs Pack or the shareware version.

At this moment the latest version is 0.5.6, which was released just a couple of days ago.

_Arno_: CatacombGL 0.5.3 is released.

In this release I've added a monster/secret counter to the automap, as yasagani suggested.

I also implemented a visualization of the CRT overscan border. The border will now flash red when the player gets hurt. It flashes yellow when an item gets destroyed. It will flash white in Catacomb Apocalypse when approaching a fake wall.
Hi, I have one question: with the Source Ports the four games are playable from the beginning to the end without any problem?

Yes, with CatacombGL all four games can be played from beginning to end without problems.

First, Arno, Appreciation: THANK YOU; I had hardly played these, since later titles were more playable once id took them on. I had two though, Abyss and C3D, since early 2000s, through Digital River somewhere (Lol). Just wondering why they are wrong for your port, as none worked, so I bought the Catacombs Pack here again. I also am not certain of the version numbers I had, still have: Just wondering if registered before rerelease of titles still counts later? Thanks again...a GREAT improvement of the games, more as they should have been if they could have been! :-)

Thank you for the nice feedback!

It is true that throughout the years different versions of the Catacomb games were published. Unfortunately, the source port does not support every historical version, as I focused my efforts on the versions that are relatively easily available in the present day.

Currently only version 1.22 of Catacomb 3-D is supported, which is included in the Catacombs Pack.
Recently a Big Box edition of Catacomb 3-D got published by Romero Games. Interestingly; the Big Box includes version 1.00 of Catacomb 3-D, which is the initial version as developed by Id Software for the Gamers Edge disk magazine. It is notably different from later versions, since in there the final boss is called Grelminar and the friend to be rescued is called Nemesis. I plan to include support for this version in a future update of CatacombGL.

As for Catacomb Abyss, I know that before the introduction of the Catacombs Pack, the registered game was originally sold via mail order and later on also as a download via flatrocksoft.com. I have none of these earlier releases myself, so I cannot tell how different they are from the most recent version. Based on your experience, I assume they are at least not identical.
