hello, is it possible to increase the draw distance of pedestrians at all?

i dont remember back then but pedestrians literally only pop up a few feet away from my car, when i played it back in 96' i could see them from quite a distance?

cheers.

I think the only thing you can do is run it with the Win96 patch and draw distance up in the options.
When I first started the Win 95 game, one of the draw distance options didn't have any of the radio buttons selected. Unfortunately, I changed it to farthest. I wonder if GOG had a custom setting that made things appear even further away. anybody know, or know how to get it back?

Also, I want both cutoff and pop-up to be the most distant options right?

There is a Radio button for it it's outside the graphics option menu's border but it's not click-able. My guess is it's probably in the ini setting somewhere.

If you used the IWANTTOFIDDLE cheat, you can change...well...anything really including draw distance (in Options.txt, the commandline should be Yawdistance or something like that)

or

1) Type IBETYOUCANTPRINTCUNT (no kidding)
2) Press F4 for Edit mode: Options
3) Press SHIFT+6 to increase the view distance, or 6 to decrease it

Optional:

4) Press SHIFT+4 twice to reset the fog rendering for the new view distance.

I tried using “IWANTTOFIDDLE” and it sounds as though it’s worked, though GENERAL.TXT remains encrypted. Any ideas?

“IBETYOUCANTPRINTCUNT” works, though the settings didn’t seem to save after restarting Carmageddon—is this normal?

Thanks.

Heavens, and I thought such strong language wasn't used in games until around GTA: San Andreas' time. ;)
Alternatively you can fiddle around with the Yon and YonFactor numbers in the OPTIONS.TXT in the Carmageddon\CARMA\ directory.

What changes?

How did you make it work? Mine don't! In addition, I noticed that splat pack one works fine!! Weird!
Could somebody do a patch for this view distance and pedestrian pop-up line? I think there is no problem to compute on modern computers. Runs very good with carm95 -hires + ddraw wrapper.
Don't think the Ped-Popup line can be changed, due to how the BRender Engine does things. As for view distance, check the replys above.

I have Yon set to 100.0 and YonFactor at 3.0 an my draw distance is quite far.
Be warned however that it really drops your framerate, I have an i7 cpu and 580 GTX gpu and it still drops below 60fps when looking at long distance scenery.

What effect does changing YonFactor have?
