A friend of mine has recently bought Carmageddon 2 from GoG and he encountered a problem that I can't find a way to fix.
If he runs the game via carma2_hw.exe the game runs on Windows 7 with sound. BUT:
1. The sound volume slider doesn't seem to affect the volume - even when dragged to the left part of the screen this should normally at least turn down the sound significantly. Instead, it doesn't change anything and the sound remains too loud.
2. When C2 is ran via carma2_hw.exe the glide wrappers don't work. The game has nothing of the fancy shaders and settings (such as AA and AF), no high resolution and so on and basically it looks like an advanced version of Super Mario.
The wrappers work only if we run the game via carma2.exe launcher where one can select "Software renderer", "D3D" or "Glide Wrapper" but then the game has no sound at all.
I tried using ZeckenZack's Glide Wrapper and nGlide and it seems both have the same problems I just described.
Is there any way to make C2 run with Glide Wrapper AND sound with Windows 7?

ZeckenZack's Glide Wrapper is working for me. If you want to use it, first you need to delete glide.dll, glide2x.dll, glide3x.dll, then run ZeckenZack's glide wrapper.
For the sound, try to reinstall.
Nglide is working fine for me, no idea how to help :( , the only problem I experience is that the game gets frozen when I exit the game. Is not a big problem but I need to close it with CTRL+ALT+SUP

How do you use ZeckenZack's wrapper?

Thanks
It's recommended that you use nglide v1.3 for max compatibility, others might be not so much responsive or can eat more resources, also if you do to prevent any crashes and screen freeze (also famous carma2_hw.exe not working/not responding) rename or delete wsock32.dll as its no use anyway for multiplayer on newer Windows editions. Don't touch winmm.dll as it controls playing music in game, if you rename or delete it you will get no music at all but can help too if only disabling wsock32.dll from use didn't work.

Nglide is basically 4 main files, other three are just 3dfx logo intro
nglide_config.exe <- this one controls game video render options in 3dfx mode
glide.dll
glide2x.dll
glide3x.dll

You can extract installer from http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide by means of winrar or 7zip and replace these in your Carmageddon 2 folder, mine is:
D:\GOG Games\Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now
