I have A question for fellow owners of the original carmageddon or max pack edition

some history first

I own the original carmageddon, and the carmageddon max pack on disc,
I also own it on steam, got it for free when back in the day supporting the reincarnation.

Since the time of windows XP / 7 and now 10, i've always been trying to emulate this game with or without dosbox
with or without -hires version, or 3DFX version, which i always got running just as intented

BUT carmageddon came out when keyboards still had the DIN connection, PS/2 and usb were non existing back then
as soon as PS/2 and later USB came out, the following issue occured on every windows with every method of emulating

that issue is keyboard input which affects steering the most...

what happens is the following: normally in the time of dos/win95 the steering with keyboard felt more like analog steering, (this is of course not correct) but i mean, steering depended on how long the "key" was pressed, so if you hold it for a short time, you would turn let's say only 10-30% if you would hold the "key" for a longer period, you would steer up till the point it would be 100% which made steering in the game pretty good actually.

but since the coming of ps/2 and usb keyboard, steering would be 100% at all times, making it more digital feel, everything or nothing, which makes the game almost unbearable to play, so you would skid all the time

I've tried nearly everything over the years, maybe I was missing something or need to revisit some methods,

or maybe you guys can tell me if this problem still exists with the gog version.

Sorry for the long explanation, but you needed al this info so you would clearly understand the issue

Thanks to everyone trying to find this out in advance
