Access to the save game and load game screens just kicks me back to where I came from.

I saved a game, and when I tried to load it by clicking on load game I got nothing but a flash. Slowing DOSBox way down I can watch the load game screen being drawn, but as soon as it is complete it jumps back to the main menu screen, or the game screen if I start a game and try to access load game from there.

So, I flailed about some and eventually tried a clean install. Start a game, save it, escape to main menu, load it...all good. Start a game and play a while, save that, and when I restart game I can't load. Start a new game to see if I can access load game from there, and no I can't, and I also get the same response from the game save function now.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem, running the game on Windows 10. What fixed it for me was editing the shortcut to run it under Windows 95 compatibility. Did you manage to solve the problem?

For reasons totally unknown if you toggle DOSBox to window mode (alt-enter) and back the problem goes away and seems to never come back.
