Posted this in my review, but if anyone's interested, this is the story of the infamous Poppy cover of both the original Amiga Cannon Fodder and Amiga Power magazine (with comments from viscerating firebrand Stuart Campbell).

Really interesting, I think - Amiga Power was the only computer games magazine ever worth reading.
Oh yes I remember this, it was the first major computer game based media frenzy I remember
"This will offend millions at a time" Ahh Cannon Fodder truly was the GTA of its day...
I've never even heard of that, but it was a very interesting read. I honestly did not know the poppy was a symbol of that magnitude.

Such controversy, wow.
But as it was already said in the Cannon Fodder manual,
And on a more serious note: don't try playing this at home, kids, because war is not a game - war, as Cannon Fodder demonstrates in its own quirky little way, is a senseless waste of human resources and lives. We hope that you never have to find out the hard way.
In many ways, PieceMaker, it's [Poppy] not. However, when the Daily Star spots a story... I especially liked the nonsense about people not being alive if "the war" hadn't been fought "for them" LOL. Where to start, eh?
Very poignant game and a lot of fun to play, even so. I know I always pause for a thought at the sight of the hill full of grave markers.
Morphine is also derived from Poppies too. In War you'd prolly need a hell of a lot of it!
