How exactly can I get access to this museum? Is it some bonus after finishing the game?

It's a separate executable.

In GOG Galaxy: press the "More" button next to "Play" and find "MUSEUM" in the menu, right between "MANUAL" and "SUPPORT".

So how do you load the museum without using poopy Galaxy?

Edit: Oh, I see; it adds a start menu shortcut to it, but not in the main directory or desktop.

As I said in a different thread, in Linux you can use

sh ./start.sh -m

or

sh ./start.sh --museum

to start the Lovecraft Museum section of the game.
