Hi all,

I've been really impressed with this verson of DCotE - most of the bugs I've encountered in my previous attempts at playing the game were gone, and I've never been able to get past the lowest section of the Refinery until now (where you drop down the elevator shaft - always used to crash).

Anyway. CTD issue I've hit, which seems to be a known one. I've found the captain on the boat behind his door, he's reciting bible verses, and I'm expected to go through the vent. I go through the vent, the cutscene plays of the fishman attacking the sailors, and the moment the cutscene ends, bam. Crash.

I'm currently running the game in 1920x1080, with n/a on the other options. Not using any third-party fixes yet, mostly because I hoped it wouldn't be needed.

Is there a way to fix the issue? What should I do?

I don't know about the GOG version, but a lot of the crashes in the Steam version could be fixed by setting the CPU affinity for the game to only use one core.

In Task Manager, go to Processes, find the DCotE entry, right-click, set affinity, and untick all except for one of the CPU boxes.

Tried that, and it crashed /before/ the cutscene happened, not after. ._.

Also tried using vsync on with Nvidia Control Panel, still crash before the cutscene.

I just encountered the same problem / crash , I enter the vent , cutscene plays/ends and game crashes.
I tried everything , setting resolution to 800x600 , anti aliasing to 0 , cpu cores to 1 , vsync off, nothing worked for me.

When I almost gave up , I loaded a previous save (just before the waves encounter ) and guess what, everything worked fine this time, no crash! No idea if it was random , or loading a previous save made any difference. Worth trying though!
