Thanks this works for me on Win 10 too!
I've been having the same issue, but when I try using IndirectSound to fix it, I get the error message that I lack the X3DAudio1_7.dll file needed to run the program. Anyone found a fix for this issue?

Maybe DirectX related? Try updating DirectX:

Copy & paste the url. GoG's url tags apparently break at &.

varengas: The compatibility mode only seems to be working for one map. After that it starts looping again :(
Is there no other fix?

Just installed Caesar 3 on windows 10 and this solved the issue! Thanks a lot!
Yep, I also had the looping sound issue and IndirectSound instantly fixed.
As usual GoG doesn't fix or update the old games.

I also have problem with that file missing. I got DirextX 12, should be the latest as far as I know.
I wrote the the guy on IndirectSound about C3, maybe he has time to look at it.
But as I read here it seem to work for some people.
What Windows and DirextX do you have ?

Game needs DirectX 9. This is a parallel install to 10 and higher.

Okey, now I´m going to look stupid but;
Are you saying that DirectX 9 and 12 are two versions of the same thing? Can you please provide a source to that info?
I went to MicroSoft homepage about Dx and could not find where to download v12 (in case I need to change back.)

Thank you.

Best regards

Again it's a parallel install. DirectX 9 does not overwrite newer versions of DirectX. They can both be installed at the same time. DirectX 9 replaces all earlier versions (1-8). DirectX 12 replaces earlier versions since 10 (10-11). No, no source (I don't have one). Shouldn't be hard to find information about this via a web search.
For some reason, neither Creative Alchemy or Indirect sound works any more on the new Win 10 update. When implemented, the game just gives off no sound at all instead. so it's either incessant looping or total silence.

If you're talking about Fall Creator's Update (1709) then IndirectSound works fine with it. Something else is wrong with your system.
Good to know. I'll have to look into whatever's going on with my system then.

Just to be clear, i've tried two different Directsound virtualizations here. Creative's own and Indirect. Wonder what is up here...
Same problem here on Win10. Sometimes it's fixed by repeating the briefing screen though. I'll try the compatibility thing.

This is still the fix that works on Windows 11!
