Let's keep something clear from the begining, the game is awesome, now, with that clear I will begin with the topic of this post.

The good: The voice acting, The best thing of this game is the voice acting.

The bad: Car controls, seriously driving in this game is difficult.

The unbearable: Driving missions, they suck, they are difficult, the enemy AI cheats. The driving missions in this game are a good way to find out how many curse words you know.

Completely agree with all your points. I also find navigating almost impossible...I set the marker, drive, open and check the map, drive a bit more then back to the map again....and again.
Is there a driving stat or anything that's easily... fixable to squeeze past it?

Edit: With a USB Xbox controller everything runs perfectly and is really easy to control. I've been able to complete all of the driving missions on one try so far.

I agree entirely. The game's... eclectic mix of action and strategy is weird, but enjoyable, if you get used to it. But who in Ronnie Dio's name thought the driving sections were a good idea? Using the keyboard, all the vehicles steer like a truck full of concrete - either they go straight ahead or turn 90 degrees, and they only have two speeds - 'standing still' and 'too damn fast'. They make the Mako from Mass Effect look graceful. The last time I played it, I quit in frustration during the mission to round up those fire beasts. Now I've started from the beginning with an XBox controller. But the driving doesn't seem much better.

Glad to find I'm not the only one who doesn't dig the driving!
's funny, I didn't have too much trouble with the driving buts but the RTS bits make me want to stab myself in the face with my laptop.

It has all the problems of trying to command your units from your tank in Battlezone but without any of the helpful aids.
The most unbearable part for me was battles that could take really long (loosing tower, units crumbled all around).

Double Fine managed unthinkable - To get me to play a game about heavy metal and ending liking some songs. Their games are always flawed but also quite an experience.

I guess I didn't have an issue with driving because I was using a controller.

The game plays perfectly fine on mouse and keyboard. If you are having trouble with the car sections, it's an operator issue. No idea what all the fuss in this thread was about 10 years ago.
