Dear GOG,
I bought BS2 yesterday. What I noticed immediately after starting the game, was rather poor cutscene quality. It definitely doesn't live up to the original. As one may learn by reading ScummVM documentation, the reason why it is so is because Smacker video codec can't be included with ScummVM and thus ogg converted version was used. The problem is, while Ogg Theora is a tremendous format, it isn't really suitable for BS2. ScummVM team realised this and not-really-recently released an improved cutscene pack - compressed using DXA - which is now available for download at scummvm.org. Perhaps you should consider upgrading the package so as to improve gaming experience.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the heads up. Downloading now but it'd be nice if GOG could get this implemented automatically as you say.
Thank you for info vear , we will check this out, and if everything will be fine we will update the cutscenes .
So if you interested stay tuned .
Mine doesn't even have cutscenes, it says "narration only" and "visit scumm.org for full cutscenes".
Makes it feel a little like I bought a bootleg, to be honest.

Either start it from supplied shortcut or rename "Extras" folder inside "GOG.comBroken Sword II - The Smoking Mirror" to "video" (scummvm looks there by default) or add extra path for scummvm game configuration poiting to "Extras"

This worked perfectly, thank you.
Still, it it may be better to get Broken Sword II cutscenes in DXA format from http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php#extras (as first poster says) and put them to video folder instead, they are of much better quality then those mpeg2 ones currently distributed in GOG installer in Extras folder.
EDIT:
Direct link for BS2 cutscene pack is http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scummvm/Sword2_DXA_Cutscenes.zip?download

Hi there
We've just updated Broken Sword 2 installation. Here is small changelog for you:
- cutscenes now are in DXA format
- you can toggle subtitles in options menu in game
- corrected manual, that right now doesn't report error in Adobe Reader 9
- now Broken Sword game saves are located in game directory instead of ScummVM
Best
Grah
Thanks alot for fixing these issues.
