So... any chance of this arriving on GOG? I'm almost certainly going to get this, but I'd rather have a DRM free version if possible.
As a side note, what are the differences between the PC, Wii, and DS versions, aside from that the point and click device is different, and which is the best? And is there any reason one might prefer the original to the DC?

Check this out for the game differences - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Sword:_The_Shadow_of_the_Templars - I ditto your stance on hoping GOG gets it as I'd buy it up right away or better yet as promo with the others in the series...

It will probably end up on GoG one day but if you are impatient you can already get it DRM-free on dotemu.
I own the original. I want to get this new DC, but I've been holding out for a GOG version. I want to get it here to support GOG simply put. I'm not in a rush, but SOME kind of confirmation that it's eventually coming would be nice. Otherwise I might as well just grab it now that it's on Steam.

Thanks, but that doesn't really tell me the differences between the PC/Wii/DS versions.

From the above mentioned wiki article:
Director's cut
On March 21, 2009, Ubisoft released a special edition of Shadow of the Templars for the Wii and Nintendo DS. The special editions are extended versions of the original. Unlike in the original, players can play as Nico. The new features include new puzzles designed specifically for each platform. The Wii version is titled Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars - The Director's Cut and features new character artwork during conversations and a new first person view for certain puzzles. Unlike the original game, the updated version also allows for multiple solutions to puzzles and a new co-operative mode for two players.[1] A version for iPhone and iPod touch was released on January 20, 2010. A PC version was released on August 27, 2010 on various digital distribution services.
The only thing I'm curious about is if the PC version runs in resolutions higher than 640x480?That would be the only real advantage it could possibly have.
It runs at 1024x768, but it's scaled up. The sprites are from the Wii version and look fuzzy. I bought it to support Revolution, but I would say the "upgrade" is not worth it.

What? The original didn't allow you to play as Nico?
On the version I played on my iPhone, it was half the game.
I don't see how that could work out.

Her father was hardly mentioned in the original version.
The original game started with the explosion at the café. After that scene, there weren't that many scenes that contained Nico as the player controlled character in the Director's Cut. It's not that much of a stretch to see how it works out, though that might just be me.
The second game has you playing as Nico too.

The DS version has no spoken dialogue, just text. Even the iPhone version is better than it. Other than that, all the Director's Cut versions are the same, apart from the controls. The original Broken Sword game, like someone mentioned before me, doesn't have Nico in it, but other than that is largely unchanged.

So are the graphics serviceable or does the blur get annoying?

The price has been lowered to $4.99 BTW, so I'll probably get it to complete my trilogy.
I like the DC a lot. I still think that the first Broken Sword is one of the greatest adventures ever. And the DC only adds more to it.

Including some logic puzzles which can thankfully all be skipped.

The graphics get upscaled with a pretty standard filter. So, yes, they get blurry.
I still use a CRT monitor and I use "use 640x480" in compatibilty mode to force that (native) resolution. I think it looks a lot better that way instead of the blurry upscaling.

Well I do have a 15" CRT lying around somewhere, but I'm not going to lug it out and find room for it on my desk just for one game :(

I did end up buying the game though.
Good to see that BS1 is on gog.com, but sorry to see that it's the "Director's Cut" version.

Question to GOG - will you ever make the original version available please?

That's probably up to Revolution rather than the GoG staff. Giving away the old version as an extra would be nice though and Revolution should definitely consider it as it's very possible it would increase sales on GoG..
