While fishing, I've noticed that in certain spots where I drop the lure, gray dots will appear on the depth meter. They're not lined up in any particular way that I can tell, and some even appear below the ground. I've played the hell out of this game on the PS1, and I don't remember them being there. Granted it has been many years since.

My guess is that they indicate the good spots to find fish, since if the lure leaves the area, they disappear, and while I was reeling in a fish it pulled back into the area where they reappeared. I was fishing in the Chamba spot, and the first time I dropped into that spot(a long cast N-NE, past the broken bridge), I reeled in a Bullcat. Am I right in this guess? At first I thought it might have been a graphical artifact, as I've seen a few of those especially before tweaking the settings.

The gray dots represent fish at different depths. Pretty certain this was in the PS1 original, as well.
