I am concerned with going after Bombshell, at any pricepoint, because Interceptor is the developer. This concern stems from experience with Rise of the Triad (2013), both with the issue had at launch that were only later fixed (many concerning optimisation in various aspects) and the final boss receiving no balance pass or fix.

In a Steam Forum post* I noted issues with El Obscuro's 2nd Form that, while I was at first initially hopeful, I now can't help but see as a dismissal of the problem. The issues with El Obscuro's 2nd Form are important because they have persisted for so long and players admit to glitching the boss on the level's geometry to beat him.** That was how I beat him the first time and I didn't attempt it the second time, settling for pushing the big red button and calling the game done in 2015.

Will support for Bombshell be the same? Without having some real example that things will be different I just can't see myself picking up this game unless at a seriously deep discount (why risk my hard-earned money?) if I pick it up at all.

The Dev's response about hiding behind the pillars doesn't work as some areas of the level with similar waist-high geometry see the player being pulled through. This also doesn't take into consideration issues with damaging the boss, generally, or the exploding larva coming around those pillars and spawn rate, specifically.

Well, I have looked into how Rise of the Triad was developed and how Bombshell was developed, and Rise of the Triad 2013 was developed using several developers around the world from what I understand. So many never saw the main headquarters. But Bombshell has all been done in house, and I am thinking that will make it easier for them to patch and update this game. Do support and such.
They finally made a patch that addresses a lot of the issues in the game, not sure when it will roll out for the GOG version but it is available.

This is yet another game like Hand of Fate where patch notes simply aren't provided but in the Changelog. Players who don't have a copy in their library have to otherwise hunt down what changed. To say that this isn't a good sign may be pushing things a bit, but to say that it's a genuinely stupid idea not to inform potential customers of a game's update where they would buy said game is not pushing things. There's no public changelog and that's stupid.

Following a Gamespot review:

"I don’t like being disrespected--and I doubt you do, either. And yet it’s reasonable to feel that way when playing a buggy, bland game with some of the worst writing you’re likely to hear in some time. It doesn’t make a bad first impression, but that’s how it fools you: it shows you the Bombshell that could have been, only to disappoint you by becoming the bomb it soon becomes."*

This is how I felt after completing Rise of the Triad and how Interceptor still left the final boss such a mess. I now know to stay well and clear of it and based on two principles: (1) don't attempt something outside the skill of the team's members and make sure that all members know exactly what is going on and their role in it and (2) don't ever, ever expect customers to maintain goodwill when something is released in a state that demonstrates due care wasn't taken, customers aren't open wallets with cash waiting to be plucked but people that worked hard for their money.

I'm tired of being disrespected and, equally important, I'm tired of watching there be some games that are 'safe' to call out and others, like most any Bethesda game or Valve game, are simply considered untouchable. I'm tired of being disrespected as a gamer and a customer, I'm tired of getting bad games and being told that 'they'll fix it' or 'you're just saying that because you don't like it' or any other excuse. If people had just a little more respect for other people as people we would see less of this stuff and more awesomeness.

That's all I'll say about it.

The Bitterness -

I had a problem with the very first level of the Planet Eater which I wasted about 1.5 hours on (couldn't get first crystal). I also feel a bit betrayed by these patch issues because once this new patch 1.3? (check steam forums - comes out in a few months possibly)) comes out the game is supposed to be ready for "consoles". This means PC users paid top dollar for an "Early Release" game that was beta/alpha tested by "PC gamers" so they could fix their problems and then clean it up with a nice bow on it and sell it to the console masses now being a lot more bug free. That's a very dirty deal for PC gamers since the game was never truly an "Early Release".
From the 1.3 changelog:

"- Abilities tweaked and balaced
- Biohazard Icon changed
- Ghostshell Icon changed
- Enemy attack effects improved
- Bombshell overall visuals improved to make her better stand out on the different worlds
- Bigger and better visual effects for Bombshell
- Controller movement responsibility improved
- Minibosses are now tougher
- Health Kits revamped. They are now more critical to the survival of Bombshell
- Map and Character Upgrade Buttons swapped by default
- Player HP and Armor system revamped. Values have been balanced, enemies now drop Armor and Health orbs, that gives you a small boost. Visual indicators have been drastically improved, and Bombshell now shows different visual effect when loosing armor and health.
- Attack on the Camp in Frozen Paradise has been improved, and made considerably more challenging
- P.M.S has been balanced
- Abomination Boss has been balanced
- The shop has been improved with new features. You can now "Reset" your Tech-Trees in a Shop. This will give you 50% of your KY back, spent on a specific Tech-Tree. You'll be able to re-spend the KY on other Tech-Trees to try new weapon modifications.
- More small enemies have been added overall, to increase the intensity of the battles.
- Nhorr Proponents now have more health.
- Executions are now faster, more dramatic and includes more gore!
- Objectives now fade away, and only show when a quest updates. The objectives can be brought up at any time by using the Map button.
- Heskel Challenge 4 has been made more difficult.
- You can now tap the "Y" button on the controller to Quick-swap between weapons. Holding "Y" brings up the weapons wheel.
- Shellshock charge indicator added to show when you can fire the weapon.
- HUD has been improved visually. The XP bar has been re-coloured and health, armor and XP are easier to read.

Bugfixes:
- Missing subtitles for certain movies have been added.
- Missing Death sounds for enemies added.
- Respawn option (KY warning), removed from Boss fights and Shellshock missions.
- Enemies reflecting bullets, now have flashing shields everytime a bullet is reflected.
- Amiga no longer drains ammo when getting hurt by enemies.
- P.M.S splash damage no longer hurts the player.
- Animations for certain Kyrron creatues have been improved.
- You can now skip the level-start screens with the controller.
- Broken XP and Player Level in Shellshock missions have been fixed.
- You can now scroll the through the map using the controller.
- A timer has been added to timer-based Shellshock missions.
- You can now use the "B" button on the controller to go "Back" in the Character menu, including the weapon upgrade menu.
- Movement indicator will now stay on the ground when you jump.
- Flytrap death improved.
- Executions with floating weapons have been fixed.
- Bindings showing up incorrect in the options menu, have been fixed.
- Player will no longer "Jump" in the beginning of a level, if you use "Space" to skip a cutscene.
- Armor, Energy and Armor now re-charges gradually (still fast), instead of appearing re-instantly.
- A bug where you had to fire your primary fire, before you can use your secondary fire, has been fixed.
- Ghost Shell that can't be picked up in Frozen Paradise, has been fixed.
- A door where you could get stuck in the Electrocutioner Heskel Challende, has been fixed.
- Controller issue where multiple button presses would glitch the UI, and player controls, has been fixed.
- Elevators not working in later levels, has been fixed. "

Seems when patch 1.3 is released I can buy this game. I hate how the dev tanks his own games (this and rott2013) by releasing too early.
