Hovis1974: I just love the level designs myself. I've played through the first couple of episodes and yeah you have the standard "City" map and the "Cave" map and "Temple" map and so forth but they make these bland levels so fun to play. I find myself wanting to play the game just to see what else they can do with the levels.

The atmosphere of Blood was the best. It made the user maps and mods even better. Download McTecman's loader and play the Bloodlines mod and see just what blood level design can do. I was blown away.

Mentalepsy: - Avoid the grey gargoyles. You have to kill one at the end of episode 1 and 4, but other than those two, I have yet to encounter one that I haven't been able to run away from. They're far too strong to justify engaging if you can help it.

OR the Tesla gun. If you don't have the Tesla, run if you can. I usually only use the Tesla for hellhounds and stone gargoyles, they are both such big threats and it is so effective against them.
And don't feel ashamed to play a lower difficulty. Many games are made with the idea that everyone is entitled to be able to beat the top difficulty, and then working down from there. This is not one of those games. The highest two difficulties are simply not designed for anyone to go through them their first time through the game. For the second-highest, you should be skilled AND have beaten the game at least once as it simply does not give you enough slack to experiment. Medium is designed to be difficult for a skilled player's first playthrough, giving you enough slack to experiment but not enough to be careless.
I got through the game on the second-highest difficulty my very first time. Believe me, it does not prove skill. It proves that you are stubborn, as well as masochistic and/or stupid.

Blood is tough, but the bosses, except for the first boss, Cheogh (The King Gargoyle) , are on the wimpy side. Tcherobeg in particularly is surprisingly easy.
Cheogh is easily the toughest fight you will have in the game.
I wonder if the designers were simply not that interested in the bosses, prefering to put their efforts into the basic level design.

Try playing on Extra Crispy - there are 2 Cheoghs :) (and a bunch of monks and normal gargoyles). And there simply isn't enough ammo to kill them both so the second one has to be finished off with a pitchfork.
I played Blood a lot, long ago, but I haven't finished it on EC yet (I was in the middle of the second episode and had a necessary reformat, and I didn't bother to back-up the save files), so I am not sure if all bosses are doubled or not.
And yes - Tchernobog is weak - funny, if you look at patch release notes :P.
And here I feel like a wimp for playing on the 2nd difficulty.
Started out on the first. Could just manage to complete level one then kept getting downed by the cultists. Decided actually making headway over pride was the way to go. Still only on the second episode (okay I'm a very distracted gamer currently playing about 10 games in little chunks at the same time), but really didn't find the end of episode 1 that hard. Sure he soaked up a lot of damage, but I think he landed at most three hits on me during the entire fight. Not sure I want to encounter him on higher difficulty though. 2nd one is good enough for me, gives me a few close calls, but otherwise is also enjoyable.
The trick to remember is that Blood One is not a shooter, it is a stalker. Take time to look about and you will spot the obvious traps. Of course the game also just puts stuff in to mess with you also.
The first boss is easy, just hold crouch and stay close to him and you'll never take damage.
This game is really difficult. I was expecting something like Duke Nukem but I was wrong (But it doesnt bother me)
My main problem is that sometimes I can see someone half covered by the wall but if I shoot them it doesnt work despite clearly hiting them and not the wall.
So I often just have to run at the where I will most likely will lose alot of life.
Isn't that what a well placed bundle of TNT is for?

There isn't enough TNT for everybody.
bah, ask Lara Croft for some, I'm sure she can spare a stick or two =]P
I personaly think there is an over abundance of TNT in Blood.

slyborg: My own suggestion: once you get the voodoo doll, hang on to it. Save it for the big gray Gargoyles-they seem to be weak to it,but can soak up a lot of bullets/shotgun/flare ammo.
The best way to kill a gray gargoyle while saving amo is to lure them into a 3 wall'd corner. They can't land and their AI forces them to fly over the player, so it's the best way to pitchfork it. Well, for like 10 minutes 8)
I picked this up today. The difficulty was a real surprise. Not an unpleasant one though. So many shooters these days are just *headshot*headshot*headshot* done.

I'm totally willing to take the time to learn the ins and outs of this game. Mainly because the atmosphere, humor and level design is so awesome. It's so good to be bad for once.
