I've got a joystick which I want to use for aiming and shooting in Blood II while I use WASD to move around, much like I did when I played One Unit Whole Blood. I've been having trouble trying to set it up though. I'm playing the game through Wine on Mac OS X Lion by the way, in case that's effecting something.

The joystick options menu appears to be completely locked up. It's not letting me set up anything, and everything has remained unassigned. The only option it's letting me choose is between turning the joystick on or off, but that's little help when nothing is assigned to it.

Under the controls options menu, I set it up so if I push Button 1 on the joystick Caleb would shoot, but this doesn't seem to work in game, as pushing Button 1 still did nothing after assigning it to fire.

The weird thing is, I know the game recognizes my joystick since I was able to assign fire to Button 1, which required pressing the button on the joystick, but everything else is completely locked up for some reason. Has anyone else had trouble setting up a USB controller with Blood II, and is there anything I can do to get it to work?

EDIT: Just noticed that pressing the ` key brings up a message saying "Error enabling device: Joystick 1", repeated four times.

Yeah, I notice this problem with Blood 2 (GOG version). Strangely enough, my retail version of Shogo (they use the exact same engine) had no problem. I ask GOG about it, and they just said that the game was not designed for joysticks, even though the demo did supported joystick (in a limited fashion). I wonder if the GOG version of Shogo has the same problem.

Sorry about replying so late.
I'm also having Issues with the Controller Settings. Even using Joy-to-Key isn't helping translate the Keyboard and Mouse Commands to My Controller. Usually Joy-to-Key is the way to go..but not this time. I checked the Link that comes with the Download and that Link is saying about Pre-Written .cfg Texts Files for Joystick Settings and how you can Adjust them. Thing is when I did as the Link is saying is when now I can't go to Joystick Setting in the Game's Menu anymore. No Matter what I try..it does nothing for the Controller. It's like I have to Play Blood 2 the way I Played the 1st Game with Standard Arrow Keys and Ctrl for Firing & etc again until I find a worthy Solution. I'm about tempted to also find a Program that is an Alternative to Joy-to-Key that will actually Function through this Game too. I went from a Headache of getting this to Run on Windows7 to where I Downloaded it here for Compatibility to now another Headache of getting it to Control as I want it to. Hopefully someone will have a better Answer than what have at the moment
Okay..so I just Tinkered around on Merging the CD Version of Blood 2 as I Overwrite some of the Files for the GOG Version of Blood 2. Mainly the "Joystick" Folder. Not Only did it Fix the whole Run as Administrator thing..but also is now letting me use Joy-To-Key with my XBOX 360 Controller. I'm now hoping this will work for anyone else having the same Issues as I did. Just make sure you make a Copy of your Blood 2 Folder (Mainly the GOG Version) so you can Copy and Merge those Joystick Settings and other Folders in it just in case you Mess Up.

Hey that sounds pretty cool. I'm going to have to test your idea (since I have the gog and CD versions of this game). I'll let you know how it works for me. Also, did you encounter this problem with the gog version of Shogo (they use the same engine)?
