I've had it with this game. After losing that save file some time ago, restarting the game is a pain in the ass. Level select doesn't help because it doesn't come with weapons, so that means I need to replay the entire thing again to stand a chance in the later levels. To be honest the game isn't really THAT terrible (just kidding, it is) but the Bone Leech is the one making it worse for me. It isn't as ugly as the Protozoid Slimer from Duke3D (which I declare to be the scariest game ever) but holy fuck it's terrifying. That loud screech, the difficulty to shake it off coupled with that extreme damage it does in a short amount of time is urgh.

So far the only reasons I have to play this is 1) Because it's freakin' Blood and 2) I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually interested in the plot and stuff. It's like Daikatana, and pile of mud that shows the gem it was to be once in a while.

Yeah if you're a Blood fan it is. Why don't u just use cheats to get your guns and inventory back when u level select. Its not that hard to do.

Also don't forget to try out my mod for Blood 2. Version 5 will be released soon but version 4 adds a lot and rebalances a lot of things too.

Can you at least post some reasons why? I know the fact that it is Blood 2 alone is enough, but more elaboration would be nice.
It's very buggy. Works quite bad on newer systems, like XP and up.
If you had a second, older PC with Windows 95 or 98 on it, you could have some fun.

The game, while not nearly as good as first Blood is decent. The graphics, for me, already felt dated when I played years and years ago when it was new.

Just my two cents
Its a good game. Game play is what you expect from old late 90s games. Graphics are just as good or better then games that came out at the same time. I think the graphics are better then the original Unreal Tournament. No its not Blood 1 good but to tell u the truth I've played Blood 2 way more then Blood 1. Yeah its buggy on newer systems but so is Blood 1. You have to work with both games to get both of them to work optimally. People bash this game but its a cult classic no matter what. Plus you need to play my mod with it if you haven't.
First Blood doesn't run at all on newer systems. Hence why it comes bundled with Dosbox on Gog.
I'd actually like to try your mod, but I'm not wasting a dime on Blood 2.
Yeah I know I own it. But even with dosbox there's a lot of problems that u have to work around. Like frame rate issues and mouse issues and sound or music issues. Its buggy just like Blood 2.

Buy Blood 2. Its pocket change. Especially on sale.
I found myself playing blood 2 more then 1. It just has that awesome atmosphere that is unlike blood 1 I find.

I think this is the same reason I play it more. Plus it was the first PC game I actually owned. Plus I mod it.
I must change my statement. I'd say yes, it is worth playing. It is fun and bat-shit insane, just like the first.

Why the sudden change of heart?

I took some time remembering when I played the game and I felt how I smiled. I was wrong all along, I like the sequel as much as the first game.

That just brought a tear to my eye.

Be sure yo play my mod. Especially after version 5 comes out which will be very soon.

The game can certainly be frustrating. I played it years ago on XP and really only ran into one issue (but it was game breaking nonetheless). I don't remember the exact circumstances, but something happened at the end of the game that basically made it unplayable for the final boss fight. But the rest of the game wasn't too terrible.

The thing I remember most was the way they'd re-use the levels in interesting ways. You'd come back through an area from a different direction, using pathways that weren't necessarily available the first time around. The other thing that stood out was something that freaked me out in the first game - the dismembered hands scuttling after you on its fingertips. In the second game they'd scream "Die! Die! Die!" as they sought to grip your throat in their icy embrace and choke the unlife out of you.

I haven't tried any of the mods, but one of these days I'll give it look again. =)
