In the GOG's Whole Blood (XP)? I've tried setting all the volume controls to zero but the soundtrack is still playing. Actaully no sound level of anything is never changed regardless where the sliders are. I remeber back in the day it all worked.

You could open your blood.ini file and insert a semi-colon before each instance of Song and Track like so :

;Song = UNHOLY
;Track = 3
Thanks, it worked! :-)

Finally the Blood's original creepy ambiental atmosphere :-) It's strange though how for me moving any of the volume sliders has no effect at all, I just wonder why, but oh well.

There is faster way, just rename imgmount D game.ins -t iso to game.gog
in
dosboxBlood_single.conf for Blood
and
dosboxBlood_addon.conf for Cryptic Passage.
HenitoKisou, I got the impression that bloodxx wanted to disable all music. I probably should have asked.

bloodxx, HenitoKisou's suggestion also works, but you will be left with the MIDI if you don't disable the music card in setup, or in the blood.cfg file.
The root cause is that DOSBox, when using mounted CD audio, always plays the CD audio at a set volume, regardless of the setting in game. This has been noticed on a number of games here on GOG so there are other threads about it (e.g. Dungeon Keeper 1 and Carmageddon Max Pack).

DustyStyx's method will work as it changes the CUEsheet for the CD being mounted so that no audio tracks are seen.

HenitoKisou's method prevents the CD image from being found so you again lose the CD audio but you gain the MIDI music. Some people prefer the Blood MIDI music, however, so you may want it this way. If you then don't want the MIDI music either you can turn that off. Can't remember if it is an in-game setting or done via the Blood Setup utility.

Another possible method is to tell DOSBox to play CD audio at a volume of 0% (silent).
In the .conf file used by the game, after the IMGMOUNT line that mounts the CD add a new line in as follows:

MIXER CDAUDIO 0:0

This tells DOSBox that the CD audio should be played at 0% volume on both the left and right channels.

Yet another method is to just delete the .OGG files so that the music cannot be found for the CD.

Not really because midi play in 1 setting overriding user no matter which one you chose, it was functional and customizable before 1.21. If you want functional on/off and looping music you can always use custom build of DOSBox here:
www.the-postmortem.com/article/blood_cd_audio_looping_fixed_in_dosbox/36/

Note that no soundtrack works exactly that way on original - it disables whole music in game if it's CD Audio and you mute it sliding bar to the left.

Just a minor correction, korell, for bloodxx's benefit, I'm sure you know this already.

game.ins is the CUE sheet that HenitoKisou prompted bloodxx to edit in favor of game.gog, the CD image (In other threads I have suggested doing the same thing)

I suggested that bloodxx edit his blood.ini file. Blood references the blood.ini file (or other specified ini files) to populate the episode lists. It contains what maps are part of said episode/s and has information about what to trigger in certain events; what music to play in the map, what cut scene to play at the start and end of episodes, in game messages etc.
By inserting the semi-colon, the lines referencing song and track lines were commented out and thus ignored by Blood when loading the maps of the episode.

bloodxx, I probably should have warned you to backup your blood.ini file before tinkering with it, it's actually kinda of important for the normal function of the game. If you feel adventurous, you could tinker with it (after you've backed it up of course) to play the maps in different orders, or remix the game to do something like play all the boss levels in a single run. In doing so, you would be taking your first steps in modding Blood.

Ah yes, for some reason I thought you meant editing the cuesheet file to comment out the other tracks.

So many different ways to disable the music. :)

lol, I was looking into the blood.exe command switches and forgot about the -nocd switch. So that's a way of doing it too, rather than changing the imgmount command

@ECHO OFF
mount C ".."
c:
imgmount D game.ins -t iso
cls
blood.exe -nocd
exit
6/10/18, Dos Blood - Linux Ubuntu: I originally downloaded it and could not play ".sh" Then I stumbled across a page that told me to right click on Blood. Go to properties, then permissions, and check the "run as application box. So I finally got to run the game. Now for the music: No controls for that! BUT.. The conf.ini files had 8 music note files in them with the music note symbol.. I deleted all 8. Now the music is gone.
Other notes on trying:
Sabertooth Motherboard : Ubuntu 18.04.. I accidentally was looking at the conf text files instead of the ini. I don't know if
that broke the game or my ignorance of trying to setup and play, using Q4. Anyways I re installed it. And came to this site. (I'm using the .sh file instead of 4 dos.. 4 dos can't stand spaces between words, only takes 8 characters, and I can't re-name it, and connect it all well enough at this point, so 4 dos didn't work for me. Or the name changes affected the .sh files. ???
