Completed the game one year ago and it was working perfectly.

Today I tried playing it on the same laptop and it is just unplayable: I get no sound and around 5 fps.
Changing the rendering does not help, and I also tried forcing the game to run on the dedicated video card (instead of the integrated one) but it makes no difference.

My specs are:
i7-7700 HQ
GTX 1050Ti
16Gb RAM
Win 10

Anyone knows a solution?

Thank you for your replies, luckily I found a solution. I am posting it as it might help those with the same problem.

I have a set of speakers connected to an external monitor, and I keep my laptop connected to the monitor as well. So the audio signal goes like this: laptop -> monitor -> speakers. I switched the output device to the external monitor from the windows panel, and apparently this caused the problem.

Switching to the integrated laptop speakers as an output device, or even to bluetooth headphones, completely solved the problem.

Hope this helps someone.

I just wanted to say yes, this did help someone. I searched absolutely everywhere and had the exact same issue as you, no sound and like 5fps even though I have a decent GPU in my laptop. It was the same problem, I have the lid closed and connected to a TV via HDMI with external speakers hooked to my TV, so Laptop > TV > Surround Sound and yup, your solution indeed did solve my problem! Thank you and I hope like you, me confirming it worked helps others in the future.

While I have not had the frame rate issue, I did have the problem with no sound. I have my laptop plugged into a TV with an HDMI cable. Switching the laptop to a blue tooth speaker or headphones for sound did the trick. This post also helped me figure things out. Thank you.
