Are you tired of trying to get Blood 2 to work? Have you tried every single "fix" and solution out there and still get the Client MFC crash?
I've tried ALL of the fixes on the Steam and GOG forums to try and get Blood 2 working on my Windows 7 laptop and absolutely nothing worked UNTIL I found out that if you turn on Data Execution Prevention and add the Blood2 and Client files in the main Blood 2 Folder to the exceptions list it will launch 9/10 times without crashing.
I combined the DEP fix with the Blood2ResPatch,the Blood 2 Widescreen Patch v2 and DGVoodoo2_55 and I can FINALLY run Blood 2 at 1920x1080. I'm at the end of Episode 1 on the Cathedral level so I can confirm that everything works up to that point. Detailed instructions for the Data Execution Prevention fix are listed below. (Note: I had the res patch and widescreen patch installed along with DGVoodoo2 and the game still would not launch until I did the DEP fix)
Data Execution Prevention Fix (Fixes Client MFC Crash)
Click on start and select run.
In run type sysdm.cpl. This will bring up system properties.
In system properties click on the Advanced tab.
Click on settings under Performance.
A new window pops up select the Data Execution Prevention tab.
Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select should be checked.
Click on Add and browse to the main Blood 2 Folder and select the Blood 2 and CLIENT files
Extra Tips:
-Set the game exe to Windows XP Service Pack 2 Compatibility Mode
-Select dgVoodoo DirectXWrapper (Display) in the Display options in the launcher
-Disable Fog in Advanced Settings
-UNCHECK Enable Single-Pass Multi Texturing in Advanced Settings (All other settings under Enable can remain checked)
-In dgVoodoo2 select Voodoo Banshee (8MB/16MB, 1 TMU) as the 3dfX card in the Middle Tab.
Combine the Blood 2 Res Patch, the Blood 2 Widescreen Patch v2 and dgVoodoo2 with the DEP fix and you should be good to go.
