What is the state of this game's current release, is it buggy?

Can Blood Omen be completed without the 3rd party Verok patch I see mentions of through out the forum?

The GOG version should work just fine. Most people that use Verok's patch do that because it adds some more QOL stuff like OpenGL renderer, a higher framerate (60 instead of 45 fps) and subtitles.

Yeah, it's beatable, but the fanpatch just offers a better experience with no tradeoffs.
