Do you like Blake Stone Aliens of Gold, or Planet Strike better? Personally I like Aliens of Gold more because I grew up on that game. Planet Strike came later for me. Thoughts?
They were both good games, and were very similar, most of what planet strike offered was more levels, and having dr. Goldfire as an actual boss you can fight and defeat. And thats why i prefer Planet Strike. : )

I prefer Planet Strike too. I suspect it's because it was completely new to me when I bought it here, I had only planer the original Blake Stone way back in the day.

Nah, not even close. I'm trying to find all secrets in the levels ... it's taking it's time
I prefer AOG. Maybe because the interface is much more comfortable to me.
Planet Strike. I played AoG's shareware level when it was more or less new, but bought both games here and just finished them.
I think PS is better because of: automap levels (and energy to keep it charged); resolution of the story (being able to face Dr. Goldfire in the end); explodable ammo makes it necessary to be more judicious about shooting instead of just blasting away; fewer levels, but they're bigger, and I like the tradeoff.
Planet Strike was better. AoG was rushed out the door while it was still in beta, because Apogee wanted to compete with id Software and Doom. Ended up not being much of a competition. :-)

I enjoy both games, but Planet Strike had a much more polished feel to it.
Well, I haven't had much more than a peek into both games but the improved graphics make Planet Strike much more enjoyable. However, being a huge fan of Wolf 3D I won't complain about Aliens of Gold either - I'll certainly try beating the thing.
Planet strike is basically the finished game engine. Apogee once they lost the distrbuition rites to doom had jam finalize AOG early to beat doom by an week. the BS series has game play that is equal now to modern FPS games but at the time doom was the cooler engine.
Sorry to derail the thread (I didn't want to open a new one for this), but how many levels are there in Planet Strike? I did think the levels could be larger in AoG, so if they are in PS, that's great, but I'd like to know how many less are there of them.

I like them both. I like Planet Strike a little bit more due to improved gameplay elements. But they went cheap on new sound effects by recycling many of the sounds from Aliens of Gold and reversed them.
For Planet Strike I like new graphics for weapons and wall textures (later modded and re-used in Rise of the Triad: Dark War), also shadows and lighting effects are improved, often you feel like in abandoned desolate building full of mutants that want kill you, however design of these sections, the levels are simplified, large areas or cramped corridors - Aliens of Gold while re-used assets through episode had more creativity in feeling you pushing forward real tech bases, underground complex, space stations - every episode has distinct feel to it while introduce new set of graphics, different floor layout and enemies, like 6 games in 1.

If you follow authors idea, Aliens of Gold is first step into making different game than Wolfenstein 3D and they succeed while Planet Strike is completed, finished idea for that different game, perfected formula obviously with trying something new and some flaws to it being so unlike first, more classic type of gameplay cleansed from Wolf raw/crude.
