Some of you may have experienced this problem when first starting this game. After successfully going through the menus, I chose my character and started to play. But everything was extremely fast and my character was moving at rapid speeds across the map. This problem happened to me when I tested the original game on my laptop, and the same speed was present. I'm running this on the Windows 7 operating system, home premium edition and more than meet the system requirements needed.

Any helpful information would be appreciated.
Aside from the usual procedure (executing as administrator, launching the game in compability mode, making sure the game is not installed under the default path, etc...), the option that comes to mind is trying different graphical configurations until you achieve a reasonable speed. For that, just click "Setup" button in the launcher. I use the rOpenGL mode with default options, if that helps you.

Thank you for the message, but I was aware of these procedures and have tried them to no avail. The strange thing about this game is that you can sometimes get it running appropriately, and then it will give up on you again. Using the older graphical configurations makes the game function. Unfortunately, this renders all game text in black, which can be countered by a patch developed by a programmer. I've got it to work using ROpenGL, but I went back and used the same settings that made it work, and then the game went back to the speedy pace.

Tell me which rOpenGL configurations you are using, where did you install the game and any other helpful system information.

Regards

My game is installed under C:\Juegos\Blade of Darkness (Juegos is spanish for games, so it is a simple custom folder under C:\)
My plugin configuration is default, I think, but I shall upload some screenshots nevertheless.
I use windowed mode because I have noted that fullscreen mode messes up some colors. If you are playing fullscreen, you could try that.
I use Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio plugin for sound (in case you want to try this option).
If that does not work, I have an ATI videocard, and it had some OpenGL issues with other games (max payne, neverwinter nights...) and updating the drivers solved problems. I suggest you to research a little on this matter.

I have also found this topic . It links to a place which might contain some useful mod and fixes. I could not read it much, because I am quite busy these days, but if nothing works, you could try.

Sweet, appreciate this information and as for the other forums, I've already checked them out. See you around.
Hi there,

There are a couple of solutions you can try which worked for me.

First, if you are running on a dedicated graphics card, go into your card driver settings and force vsync "on" for this game. Then start up the game, you should find that the game now runs at normal pace. This also fixed mouse lag problems for me.

Alternatively, or if you are using an onboard graphics card (e.g. intel GMA 3150), you will need to adjust the setup config from the game menu.

When you first click the game shortcut, you will see the game launcher v1.01 dialog.

Click on "setup" then select rOpenGL from the video dropdown.

Then click on "configure" and go to the "Misc" tab.

Set swap interval to "1"

Press OK, then OK, then "Play Game"

Game should now run at normal speed.

Thanks for the idea!

The issue might be solved if you force vsync on. I used a tool called D3DOverrider, which is installed with riva tuner found here . You install the program, but select the D3DOverrider tool instead (a shortcut shall be created in the menu) and it will force your FPS to be constant, presumably fixing your issue.
Anyway, try the post above first, because I suspect that it achieves the same thing somewhat easier. But if it does not, I think that this will be it.

Sorry for not replying to your post earlier, I didn't see it. After testing the instructions you have given me, the game works fine, at the normal pace and under the fullscreen view. But the thing about Blade Of Darkness is that sometimes it reverts back to the original problem, so whether or not this fix is permanent, I do not know. Do you have to keep configuring this option every time you play, and does it work all the time? Thanks.

Holy mother! Never tried that. If this fixes my speed problem, i'll love you forever <3
I've tried every solution and nothing helped me. Then I´ve tried to run the game with parameter start /affinity 1. Now the game runs at correct speed :-). For example: "D:\Games\Blade of Darkness\Bin\Blade.exe" start /affinity 1
