I recently bought the game and for some reason when ever I try play the game. it won't launch at all. I get no error message or anything. I press the start button on GOG Galaxy it turns grey for a few seconds then goes back to green and nothign happens.

I am running Win 10 64bit.
That's further than I get. An error box shows up and the game just bombs. Will add a useful bug report later.
Wow, I heard the remastered versions of Bioshock 1 and 2 were buggy but I figured gog would have fix these problems like they often do before putting out the product. I really hope a patch is release to address this because I was really excited to play these games drm free.

Not sure what changed, but it now runs flawlessly! My only thought is I was accidently tryng to run the old Steam Version. Apologies to all concerned!
I am glad that the game works great for you. Unfortunately my problem still persists.
Try to install or reinstall all the following Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable libraries: 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2017. In addition, be sure to have installed both 32 and 64 bits versions.
Sorry it took so long to reply, I was on vacation for the holidays. I have took your advice and I still receive the same results. The play button turns grey for a few seconds and then turns back to green with nothing happening. Not even an 'error' message. That is why I am worried because even with an error message it would indicate that it was atleast TRYING to load the game.

I sent in a support ticket to gog days ago and still haven't heard from them, it makes me wonder if I am being ignored because the ticket is still in open status. I really hope this doesn't escalate to something more serious.

The game crash at launch if i run it from my non admin profil (win 10 x64). It runs without problem from admin desktop and removing windows real time protection. There's a problem beetween this windows service and the game
GOG version of Bioshock 1 must be somehow corrupted, it doesn't work neither on 2008 PC with 2008 HW and Win 7 32bit and I defeinitely played it in Win 7 32bit, it worked. Sometimes I can get to main menu, but when I change something in settings, game crashes.
Maybe there is reason for remaster it, but it should definitely work properly on 2008 HW. It seems like some games from that time are just broken after some time, maybe some date error? Or problem with GPU drivers? I have pretty old drivers on that 2008 computer, but probably not old enough. You can clearly see which games were done properly back in the day and which not, some games from early 2000s still work totaly fine on modern computers, but these games were mostly PC only which is probably what makes the difference.
Maybe I will find old DVDs with original version of Bioshock (but not really original :-D ), I am curious if it works or not now, maybe problem is not really GOG version.

EDIT: ok, I think I solved it, there is some problem with DX10 in this game, they probably tested the game only in Win Vista or it really needs some very old GPU drivers, maybe I played it still on XP back in the day. So fix is to add -dx9 command to game shortcut icon on desktop or in settings in your client (if you play with client), game will run fine then, but obviously, only in DX9, but who cares, the most important is that it works.

OK, I solved it on Windows 10 64bit just installing DXSDK_Jun10.exe from Microsoft Download Center page. This package installed these missing dll's: XINPUT1_3.dll and D3DCOMPILER_43.dll . Now the game is launching OK.
